Autumn seems well and truly with us now, the weather has certainly changed.
September saw more successful and well supported talks take place at the Museum as well as our participation in the National Heritage weekend and Colchester Classic Motorcycle Club visiting us. Our MacMillan Coffee Morning raised a total of £156.00 for such a worthwhile cause so a big thank you to all of you who popped in.
We have another busy month lined up so please see below, but before you read on we are pleased to announce our new 2025 calendar with a theme of ‘Through The Shop Window’ which will be on sale for £7.95 from Saturday 5th October
dare we mention it this early but it would make an ideal Xmas present.
On Saturday 5th October at 11.00am we welcome Philip Cunningham to the museum to give an illustrated talk on The Story of the Harwich Turnpike Road which ran the 72 miles between London and Harwich.
The next monthly quiz night takes place on Thursday 10th October at 7.30pm (doors open at 7.00pm) at the United Services Club. Please do come along and join us, it’s very light hearted but also a chance to put your knowledge to the test. Just £2 per person and you can have up to 6 in a team. You may also win a raffle prize.
The 11th to 13th October sees the Harwich International Shanty Festival take place in the town, the Museum will be hosting two groups of shanty singers on the 12th & 13th at 12.00 midday and 14.00 both days. Additionally on Saturday 12th at 16.00 there is a presentation on Kindertransport by David Whittle here at the Museum, entry is £5.00 and payable on the day. Please see the programme which can be purchased at the Museum for full details.
Saturday 19th October at 11.00am Rosaline Weaver will be giving an illustrated talk at the museum on Customs Men vs Packets Boat Captains. **SOLD OUT**
Thursday 31st October at 11.00 am we have a presentation on Haunted Harwich by Helen Broom and Rosaline Weaver. **SOLD OUT**
The first talk in November takes place on Saturday 2nd November on the Manningtree Witch Hunt by Philip Cunningham, we have two sessions at 11.00am & 2.00pm. **SOLD OUT**

Where talks are shown as **SOLD OUT** we do operate a waiting list so please enquire if you are interested in attending.
All talks generally last a hour with time for questions. For all talks please remember to pay in advance (includes entry to the museum) or if a season ticket holder to bring your season ticket to show at reception and let us know in good time if you cannot attend so we may be able to reallocate your place to someone else.
Just a reminder that we do have a tea room and shop, entry is not required to the museum to use these. Outside seating is also available.
