Having just returned from Thornbury and District Museum where the archivists at the museum will be putting together a fascinating display about the children from Harwich who came in 1940, some of whom actually stayed.
Harwich Museum would like to tell the story from the point of view of families and children affected by the mass evacuation of three quarters of children, babies too, some for as long as 7 years, some who were so happy that they didn’t return.
Some who didn’t know their families when they did return.
Please get in touch if your family or someone you know would like their story recorded.
Next year is the 85th anniversary of the evacuation.
