The Day the children left
Some 1,200 children were evacuated from Harwich, Dovercourt and Parkeston on June 2, 1940, to keep them safe from the imminent danger of living so close to a major port during the war.
Hi-de-Hi Memorabilia
The 1980s TV show was filmed at a holiday camp near Harwich, The Hi-de-Hi! display is part of an exhibition showcasing the history of the Warner’s holiday camp at Dovercourt that hosted thousands of Kindertransport.
