Sea Shanty Festival

The Harwich International Shanty Festival is a grassroots maritime music festival that brings together musicians and singers from across the globe. It has been running for 20 years and Harwich is the perfect location – situated on the North Essex coast at the confluence of two rivers as they meet the sea.

58 Ships

Join Richard Oxborrow, Neil O’Hare, Len Smith and other
researchers (with a bit of musical interference from Mick Verrier) as we review our
joint project with Harwich Museum and The Harwich Society, started four years
ago, uncovering the stories of the ships built for the Royal Navy between 1660 and
1826 at Harwich Navyard. Come along and adopt a ship or two.
